Dr. Thakur underwent undergraduate training in India. During her medical schooling she was an outstanding student and was awarded several gold medals for her achievements. She was also awarded the Presidents Silver Medal in India. She continued her post graduate training in India and England in Plastic Surgery.
After coming to the United States she went through her general surgery residency in Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She was selected to continue her plastic surgery residency and training in the same institution. As a chief resident, she was responsible for teaching medical students and junior residents as well as running the clinic for cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. After completion of her residency she was awarded the Davidoff Certificate for outstanding achievement in teaching medical students.
In addition, she also completed a fellowship in Burn Surgery at Jacobi Hospital Center in the Bronx which involved intensive treatment of burn victims. During this time she was responsible for acute treatment of burn patients and complex reconstructive surgery for burn deformities.
After residency, Dr. Thakur worked in Kings County Hospital and Jamaica Hospital. Currently, she is affiliated with Hudson Valley Hospital, Putnam Hospital and Northern Westchester Hospital. Dr. Thakur is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon.
Dr. Thakur is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and a solo practitioner located in a medical condominium complex in Jefferson Valley, NY.
